1. American Gods by Neil Gaiman: The number one book is American Gods which is a terrific read. It features an introduction by the author himself and you will come to know about the full cast of performers that depict the memorable vision of American life. The story revolves around Shadow who is a recently released convict from the prison. His release comes after the tragic accident of his wife and best friend. So, he begins working with the mysterious Mr. Wednesday or Ron McLarty and embarks on a road trip with him. This journey brings him face to face with the Gods of America.
2.We are Legion by Dennis E. Taylor: The second good audiobook worth reading is �We are Legion’ where you come across an engineer named Bob. He owns a software company and unfortunately meets with an accident while crossing the street to attend a comic convention. He dies immediately. Being a client of CryoEterna Inc, his head is detached from the body and reserved for future reanimation. By 2133, Bob awakens to find out that USA is being ruled by a tyrannical President while his own consciousness has been scanned into the computer simulation. Basically, Bob has become a replicant.
3.The Fireman by Joe Hill: The story revolves around Harper Grayson whose world changes abruptly. He becomes witness to an event where he sees a man bursting into flames in the schoolyard. She soon realizes that a mysterious contagion named Dragonscale that dooms the afflicted to the fiery death has emerged to cause destruction.
The hospitals get swarmed by the infected, the Space Needle burns and Harper’s own family turns against her in the face of the apocalypse. She is forced to flee from the home and comes across a community that has found some solution to survive and to thrive against the Dragonscale. However, Harper is no way finding consolation in the group of new friends.
4. The Magicians by Lev Grossman: If magic is what interests you, then how about reading this book by Grossman? The narrator of the story is Mark Brahmhall who brings life to the story of Quentin Coldwater and his dear friends. In the beginning, Quentin is seen depressed in high school senior and enjoys his time living in the favorite fantasy series called Fillory and Further. This story is about a family that discovers a magical dimension.
So, when Quentin gets recruited for an elite school called Brakebills College for magical Pedagogy he feels his real-life surfacing for the better. Yet, Quentin and his friends while being magicians aren’t immune to the anxieties of real life and are keen towards some distraction of their own realities. Unfortunately, all that is found in Fillory is not real to all of them.
5. The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman: If you are a follower or dark fantasy series, then this will be a wonderful read for you. The story follows the young 11-year-old Lyra who sets forth in search of her beloved uncle Lord Asriel in the Arctic region. He had been imprisoned while researching about powerful and mysterious substance called Dust.
The setting of the story reveals the human species having their familiars called demons. However, dissent is suppressed by the religious theocracy called the Magistrate.
